Chamonix 5×12

My 2020 Christmas present to myself. Chamonix made 3 5×12 cameras this year, and I got one of them. The image above shows the size of the 5×12 vs my Chamonix 45N2 that I usually hike and shoot with.

I have mounted a temporary Sinar to Technica lensboard adapter on it until I can get a few Sinar boards. Initial testing has shown my existing lenses 210, 250, and 300/500 are all adequate to cover the format. The 210 may be iffy. I will write more once I have the opportunity to use it in the field.

It came well packaged from China with plenty of foam padded protection. The camera wrap is a thick felt with velcro corners. I ordered 3 film holders (6 images) to go with it, and they came with a nice pouch for each holder. I preordered the film from the annual Ilford ULF program and have 100 sheets to start with. Lading the film holders was no more difficult than 4×5 once I practiced a bit. I will need to find a good backpack, film processing tube, and a couple more accessories to go with it.
