Dicks Creek Falls, also known as Waters Falls, is located at the cross roads between Dahlonega, Suches, and Blairsville in the Chestatee WMA at Turners corner. Just before taking the turn on HWY 19 at Turners corner, Dicks Creek road veers off to the left if traveling north. The road is paved until you get to the WMA but it is well packed with few ruts. The first parking area on the right is right beside the falls so no hiking required.

The falls are a favorite hangout spot for locals. There are pools to swim in , rocks to slide on, trout to catch, and hiking to be had. The creek is nestled among a mountain neighborhood but the WMA is protected land. However the creek does wind onto private property so there are restrictions where one can go. There are 3 different cascades over angled rocks culminating in a broad bottom falls with a shallow pool. The upper falls rushes through narrow openings with twists and turns and offers some areas to slide into the pools. There is a small set of falls downstream near the corner of the road but you have to get down into the water or scale the steep slope to get to it.

You have to get there early to beat the crowds. Local photographers use this scenic backdrop for engagement and family sessions. The fishermen arrive early too and generally fish from the bank but may be in the middle of your shot if fishing the upper tiers of the falls. Perhaps you can persuade the locals to be a part of your image if you want to show the real character of this place. The water is cold but refreshing on a hot summer day. There is plenty of plant life and flowers to photograph as well.
